Our unemployment rate is reported to have fallen to 9%; the steepest two month decline in nearly one half century, the New York Stock Exchange surpassed the 12,000 mark for the first time in nearly 3 years, and the service industry and manufacturing are growing again at pre-recession rates. Consumer confidence appeared strong for the year ending 2010 and introduction to 2011. Could our local, national, and global economy be headed towards recovery?
I for one am a glass half-full type of person, especially when it pertains to business. However more often than not, our media puts a negative slant on topics in their effort to glamorize and draw attention to same. After all, aren’t life’s failures much more interesting than life’s stories of success? All sarcasm aside, I’d like to think the media should take full responsibility for the negativity abroad, unfortunately we, “the public”, have supported the media’s half-empty approach thus aiding in our present economic debacle.
I personally do not have a solution for ending today’s economic woes, a cure for AIDS, or a means for taking care of the homeless. I do believe PERCEPTION is the “cure-all” to any/all recovery and that through the positive promotion of events we will restore Hope, encourage growth, and realize prosperity to be savored by all. It’s time to tune out the negative, live the day, and fill that half-full glass to the rim.
Cheers!
